Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

Daily Announcements

  • Wednesday, April 25, 2018

    • Any student that still has a musical script needs to return it to Ms. Williams ASAP!
    • After school PLATO classes for TODAY have been cancelled. 
    • Students who qualified to be inducted into the German National Honor Society should bring Mrs. Deppert your money and order form for induction as soon as possible so that we can get the pre-printed certificates and membership cards back before the end of the school year. I will do a quick induction during class for those still in German, for those no longer in German, come see me after school. 
    • Senior Class Officers ~ You will have a Baccalaureate meeting TODAY during “C” lunch in the Media Center. 
    • Lettermen and Letterwomen need to meet in the Auditeria right after school TODAY for a club picture. 
    • Seniors ~ We will begin decorating for prom on Saturday, April 28th from 10am – 4pm. Lunch will be provided. We will continue decorating Monday thru Thursday from 3:15 to approximately 9pm. We know that you may not be able to attend each day for the entire time, btu you will need to be there as often as possible. Parents are also needed to help during any of the listed times. Your prom will reflect the amount of effort you put into decorating. We will have snacks, drinks, and music. It should be a fun week leading up to a once-in-a-lifetime night! 
    • Juniors ~ We will need help on Sunday, May 6th to take down prom decorations. This will allow your grade to be able to use some of the decorations for prom next year. We will need a great deal of help. We also welcome any parents who will be willing to help! We will begin at 10am. Even if you can’t be there at 10am, arrive when you can. 
    • All senior and non-returning Miner Kadets need to turn in uniforms to Mrs. Yingling by May 11 with the dry cleaning tag. See Mrs. Yingling with questions. 
    • If you have received a scholarship from a University that you would like acknowledged at Senior Awards Night, you need to come into the front office and pick up a purple Honor's Day Form. You will need to attach a copy of the award letter/documentation to the Honor's Day Form.  The forms are due back to Mrs. Hayden by May 11th. 
    • On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, after school, will be the “Swinging for a Reason” event. Students can pay $5.00 to smash a car with a sledgehammer for 30 seconds, or they can pay $8.00 to smash a car for 60 seconds. All proceeds will go to the family of Madison Moore, an LHS student who is seeking treatment for leukemia. The event will take place in the school’s back parking lot by the softball and baseball diamonds. Safety goggles will be provided. Please submit the liability form and payment before Tuesday, May 1 to Mrs. Lynn in Room 226. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Lynn or Dustyn Robison. Checks can be made payable to LHS Yearbook.

    Reminders:

    • Attendance Line ~ The High School attendance line for you to call in your student's absence is (812) 512-9052...just follow the prompt. You may also call 847-6024 if you can’t get through to the attendance line and leave a message. Please remember you need to call your student in for illnesses or appointments before 9am. Homework is listed on Harmony daily, so your student can make up all the work when they return. Please remember to send doctor excuse slips within 48 hours of absence. Excuses can also be faxed to 847-6037. If the excuse is not received within 48 hours, then they will not be certified. You also need to call the office if your student is late or not coming in at all.  We always need to make sure your student is accounted for.
    • Students ~ This is a reminder that once you arrive on school grounds you are not allowed to leave without permission from the office.
    • Lunch ~ Lunch/take-out food items cannot be brought in by parents/guardians during the school day at any time, due to students’ safety and health. If your child forgot theirs, they will be able to have a lunch tray from the cafeteria.
    • Lockers ~ You are not to go to your lockers or to the 2nd floor until 7:45am. Please remain in the Auditeria until the 7:45am bell. Also, you are not allowed to take backpacks to any classrooms.
    • Water ~ You are allowed to carry bottled water with you throughout the day, however other drinks are not allowed except during lunch.
    • Deliveries ~ Please note that we do NOT accept flowers, candy, or balloon deliveries at school.
